    Description

This extraordinary GOLD record commissioned by Columbia records is a commemorative GOLD due to the special circumstances surrounding this LP.   Waylon & Johnny teamed up with the great Lash Larue,  the king of the Saturday Matinee cowboy movies of the 40's and 50's.   In fact,  "Lash"  gave the common "whip"  the nickname of "Lash" because of his name.  And he is the one who - on the Hollywood back lot - taught Harrison Ford how to use the "lash"  or bullwhip Indiana Jones used in his first movie,  Raiders of the Lost Ark.   Lash is gone now,  but this is a fantastic award with a lot of pomp and circumstance.
The emulated black hat worn by Waylon, Johnny and Lash from the cassette label (backside shown) and the tiny lash to dress it up.
ALSO INCLUDED ARE SEVERAL SMALL GLOSSIES FEATURING A PHOTO OF JOHNNY & LASH LARUE AND WAYLON, ALONG WITH AN ICONIC QUOTATION FROM LASH.   SEE PHOTO INSERTS FOR SAMPLES.
It's a collector's item to be certain.   Only 250 were made and about 200 sent out to radio stations and music industry executives who helped promote the album.  My father,  who made tens of thousands of GOLD & PLATINUM awards for the industry always made extra ones for "aftermarket"  needs in the event the record label needed any after the initial mail-out,  or in many cases,  the stars themselves would ask my dad for one or more years after he made them.  When he passed away in early 2016,  I inherited his 50 years of memorabilia and constantly add new items on my listings  (Davestraub47).  The last photo in the listing is a photo of my dad with Lash LaRue at the June, 1984 party at Columbia Records on Music Row,  celebrating the release of the LP Heroes.
A COA  (Certificate of Authenticity)  accompanies the GOLD RECORD and can be personalized with any name you provide me and a generic one will also be sent along with it.
