This is a Win Win scenario. Purchase a beautiful hand woven Huipil to wear, and support the Huave weavers save their cultural heritage and traditions.This 100% cotton hupil will fit a Medium to Large Size woman. It measures 25 inches wide (from side to side – total 50 inches around) and 27 inches long.
The Huave (ikood or Ikoots) people live in several small communities near Salina Cruz on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca Mexico.
They speak a language that is unrelated to any other indigenous language spoken in Mexico today.
This Tunic is an example of a 2 web huipil woven by the women of Santa Mateo del Mar.
It is a Vibrant two Color Lavender Blue and Pink
(detail photos are not the true colors, the full photos show the colors more correctly).
The geometric details are Purplish Blue and Pink and the back is plain. This Huipil was all woven on a Backstrap loom.
