    Description

This is a rare piece of sheet music for the song "WHAT A NIGHT FOR SPOONING" which was introduced by FRANCES WILLIAMS in the Original Broadway production of the
Ninth Annual edition of "GEORGE WHITE'S SCANDALS" at the Apollo Theatre in New York City. (The production opened July 2nd, 1928 and ran for 240 performances.) ..... This series of revues, produced by White from 1919 through 1939, were given to elaborate show numbers much like the "Ziegfeld Follies", but less ornate and cumbersome. Their comedy tended to be far more topical and, because White had been a dancer, the productions were fast paced and featured better choreography and music than similar revues ..... This edition included Costumes and Curtains designed by ERTE. The cast included ANN PENNINGTON, HARRY RICHMAN, WILLIE and EUGENE HOWARD, TOM PATRICOLA, FRANCES WILLIAMS, ROSE PERFECT, BERNICE & EMILY, WILLIAM O'NEAL, ARTHUR PAGE, RUTH GOODWIN, BELLE OSBORNE, LOIS ECKHART, JUNE McCLOY, MABEL HILL, DOLLY GILBERT, the HASTINGS TWINS, PEGGY MOSELY, MARGARET MANNERS, GEORGIA LERCH, LaVERTA McCORMACK, GEORGE WHITE'S GIRLS, the RUSSELL MARKERT DANCERS, ARNOLD JOHNSON and ORCHESTRA and the ELM CITY FOUR ..... CREDITS: This Song written by BALLARD MacDONALD and DAVE DREYER; Music by RAY HENDERSON; Lyrics by B. G. DeSYLVA and LEW BROWN; Book by GEORGE WHITE and WILLIAM K. WELLS; Scenery designed by GUSTAVE WEIDHAUS and W. ODEN WALLER; Costumes and Curtains by MAX WELDY from designs by ERTE; Additional Costumes designed by CHARLES LeMAIRE; Orchestra conducted by WILLIAM DALY; Russell Markert Dancers Staged by RUSSELL MARKERT; Conceived, Produced, Choreographed and Staged by GEORGE WHITE
