    This is a rare 1898 or 1899 program (playbill) from the Original French production of the EDMOND ROSTAND classic "CYRANO de BERGERAC" at
    the Theatre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris
    , France. (The first performance of "Cyrano de Bergerac" was given on December 28th, 1897 at the Theatre de la Porte Saint-Martin in Paris. The first U.S. performance was on October 3rd, 1898 at the Garden Theatre in New York City.) ..... The play starred CONSTANT COQUELIN who originated the role of "Cyrano" in this production. Between 1897 and 1908, Coquelin played the role of "Cyrano" 927 times at the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin and 151 times at the Théâtre de la Gaîté. He repeated his success in the summer of 1898 at the Lyceum Theatre in London and toured America with SARAH BERNHARDT in 1900, appearing in "Cyrano de Bergerac" at New York's Garden Theatre .....
