Description
This is a beautiful souvenir program from the original production of the musical revue "TO BROADWAY WITH LOVE" which played the Music Hall of the Texas Pavilion at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. (The production premiered on April 22nd, 1964, but failed to draw the anticipated audiences and closed after fewer than 100 performances.) ..... A spectacular revue which saluted the American musical, it was written specifically for the Texas Pavilion of the New York World's Fair. The show, like the rest of the pavilion, was the brainchild of Angus G. Wynne, Jr., a Texas businessman who had recently opened the first Six Flags theme park. Most of the songs were culled from previous Broadway shows, but JERRY BOCK and SHELDON HARNICK supplied musical continuity and eight original numbers: "To Broadway With Love," an homage to the Ziegfeld bring-on-the-girls number "Beautiful Lady," "Mata Hari Mine," "Remember Radio," a lilting waltz "Popsicles in Paris," "Hawaii," "Concert," and "Finale". (Reprinted in part from the Bock & Harnick website) ..... The cast included CARMEN ALVAREZ, KELLY BROWN, BOB CARROLL, JEAN DEEKS, TED FORLOW, DOROTHY FRANK, JOHNNY HARMON, HOWARD HARTMAN, REBY HOWELLS, PATTI KARR, NANCY LEIGHTON, GLORIA LEROY, DON LIBERTO, ROD PERRY, JIMMY RANDOLPH, EDDIE ROLL, STEWART ROSE, GUY ROTONDO, EILEEN SCHAULER, MILLIE SLAVIN, SHEILA SMITH and RICHARD TONE .....
