6 C1930 CROWN DUCAL GAINSBOROUGH ENGLAND CRD18 9" LUNCHEON PLATES. PINK FLOWERSItem Description
You are buying a set of six (6) authentic, vintage
Crown Ducal "CRD18" luncheon plates
dating, approximately, from
1929 to 1930.
These elegant, earthenware luncheon plates are decorated with the
floral and fruit embossments of Crown Ducal's 'Gainsborough' shape (blank) pattern.
The blossoms, berries and leaves are glazed in pink, deep blue and green, respectively. The website, Replacements, identifies this pattern as CRD18.
The bottoms are labeled with a "Crown Ducal Gainsborough England" crown mark and the '749657' registry number. It is believed that Crown Ducal introduced its Gainsborough shape in the autumn of 1929. Plates imported to the U.S.A. after the Tariff Act of 1930 would probably have had "Made in England" designations instead of these "England" designations.
Each plate measures approximately
8-3/4
inches in diameter.
These 80-year-old plates are in very good to excellent condition. The colors are rich, and the details are distinct. The finish is lustrous. Please note there is surface
cracking / crazing
on several plates, and one plate has a 1/8-inch
chip
and a 3/8-inch
chip
on its rim. See the photos for further clarification. The items pictured are the items you will receive.
These plates will be shipped as a trackable parcel.
